ArcHive
ArcHive is a mobile app designed to enable architectural professionals in small to medium size firms access to daily workflows.
Project Duration: 1 Month
My Role: Product Designer
Responsibilities:
User Research / Affinity Map / Persona / Site Map / User Flows / Wireframing / User Interface / Prototyping / Design System / Usability Study
Context
According to American Institute of Architects 2020 Report, It is total 19,296 Architectural Firms in USA. Among them, 98% of the firms have less than 100 employees. Most of the architectural firms are small business. Their resources to upgrade the workflows by using digital product are limited compared to large architectural firms.
Question
Could we create an useful yet affordable workflow management solution to those small architectural firms?
Design Process
Let do Research first…
Affinity Map
Working in the architectural industry for 8 years, I understand the pain points of the workflow management in architectural firms. To confirm my assumptions, card sorting is performed with two potential users to identify the problems and categorize what are improvable.
Main Pain Points
To summarize the finding, here are 4 main pain points the potential users want to solve.
Persona
After analyzing the pain points, 2 personas are created to represent 2 target user groups that help to synthesize their frustrations and needs.
Employer
Employee
Journey Map
Journey map provides the other dimension of synthesis to understand potential users’ daily workflow and their repeated frustrations. These findings guide to what can be improved.
Can’t wait for Ideation!
The Goals
Based on the research and analysis, 4 main goals are established for the design exercise.
Site Map
Before going into product visualization, the site map is created to organize the necessary features, and also give the structure to support potential task flow.
User Flow
Following the site map, a task flow chart is built to study how to simplify the process of each assignment.
